This recall affects several popular models, including the Hyundai Santa Fe models from 2019–2023, as well as the 2022–2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz and Kia Carnival. The Korean automakers have advised owners of these vehicles to park their cars outside and away from any structures due to the fire risk until the issue can be addressed. The recall was initiated after reports of engine fires were received by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the automakers themselves. Investigations by the NHTSA found that the issue was caused by an electrical short circuit in the hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU) that can cause a fire in the engine compartment. Hyundai and Kia have stated that they will be replacing the HECU in all affected vehicles free of charge. In the meantime, owners have been advised to take precautionary measures to prevent engine fires, such as parking their vehicles outside and away from structures and monitoring for any warning signs of engine trouble, such as unusual smells or sounds. Today we're back with the owner's review of Tabish Hashmi's Hyundai Sonata. In this review, Tabish tells us about his experience with his newly bought Sonata and his likes and dislikes about it. The Sonata was launched by Hyundai Nishat in 2021 in 2 variants, the 2.0 liter and the up-spec 2.5 liters. This particular car has a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine producing close to 152 hp and 192 nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission which drives the front wheels. Purchase Decision To pair up with his crossover, Tabish was out in the market for a premium sedan in a certain price bracket. He mainly considered two sedans: the 11th gen Civic and the Sonata. He said the Civic was pretty standard and didn't give that premium feel upon driving it. The exterior and interior design also did not appeal to him much compared to the very elegant looks of the Sonata. Then came the decision between the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter Sonata, which had 7 to 8 lakhs between them but other than the engine, there was no significant difference, so he opted for the 2.0-liter variant. Salient Features The Sonata comes with a list of features, including electric seats with lumbar support, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, leather upholstery, a panoramic roof, an infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, and much more. This 2.0-liter variant misses out on a heads-up display and an automatic rear shade which comes in the 2.5-liter variant. Fuel Average As per the owner, the fuel average is mediocre and less than what he heard. It averages around eight km/l within the city, improving a bit on a long stretch. He has not yet taken it on the highway but assumes that it will do 12 to 13 km/l. "Maybe it is because I drive with a heavy foot," he added. Missing Features Although this car has many features, the owner still needs to catch up on some features he has in his Tiggo. Some of these include adaptive cruise control, which is missing, up-hill and down-hill assist, and driver assistance features like blind spot monitor, which the owner feels should've been added. Ground Clearance Due to its wide and low stature, the Sonata seems like it would be problematic on our local roads, but opposing this view, the owner has not any issue with the ground clearance. It does not hit speed breakers mostly, but a bit of caution is needed with multiple passengers. Parts Availability Spare Parts are readily available at authorised dealerships, and with the high volume of Sonatas on the road, there's no risk of being unable to find parts. Although prices are extremely high, a single headlight costs around 2 lakh 80 thousand rupees; hence insurance seems a no-brainer. Watch Video

Hyundai has unveiled the latest version of their 7th gen Hyundai Elantra, dubbed the Hyundai Avante in South Korea, and it's now on sale in its home market. The new facelift model boasts subtle but sleek design changes that enhance the sedan's front and rear-end styling. One of the most exciting features is the built-in dashcam that is attached to the top of the windscreen and sends video directly to the infotainment screen or to your smartphone. Not only that but the Avante facelift is also equipped with a digital key feature that lets you use your mobile device to lock and unlock the car, as well as share usage rights with up to 7 other people. The air conditioning system in the new Avante has also been upgraded with a unique “After-Blow” feature that helps to decrease mold accumulation. Additionally, a low battery sensor prevents the system from draining the battery completely, so you don't have to worry about coming back to a dead car battery.  The Avante is available in South Korea with petrol, LPG, and hybrid powertrain options. The naturally-aspirated 1.6L Smartstream petrol engine produces 121 hp, while the 1.6 LPi model makes 118 hp, and the self-charging hybrid delivers 104 hp. According to Hyundai, the suspension has been improved for a smoother and more refined ride, and the newly designed air curtains in the front bumper enhance the fuel efficiency of the new Avante. Although the increase in fuel efficiency is slight, it's still a nice touch to an already impressive package.  The new Avante is yet another example of Hyundai's commitment to innovation and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the automotive industry.   What are your thoughts on this new launch?
