KIA Picanto 2023 Price in Pakistan, Images, Reviews & Specs

The Korean automaker KIA comes with a “BREAKING” for Picanto lovers. Reports have revealed that 3rd generation of Picanto may receive a second facelift in 2023. The company made the decision since the current model of car has failed to capture the attention of consumers. Picanto, the only small hatchback in KIA’s lineup, is an essential car for the company. Also known as “Morning” in its indigenous market. When electric vehicles are embarked on shifting the sands, trouble starts to surface for them small petrol cars. And, the mass production of small electric cars is still not on the cards as profit margins are too low. As per reports, the second facelift of the car may retain the power (engine), but the exterior and interior will flaunt some enhancement. Currently, 3rd generation of the KIA Picanto comes with two engine options in the international market – 1.0L and 1.2L equipped with naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines mated with 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual gearbox. Picanto in Pakistan  KIA Lucky Motors follows the footprints of other carmakers and launched 2nd generation of Picanto in Pakistan in 2019. Interestingly, the model was extinguished from the international market more than two years later. Kia Picanto is also the first car in Pakistan that comes with a fully automatic 4-speed transmission; previously, we had automated manual transmission cars like the Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Cultus.  Picanto comes fitted with a decent 1000cc 3-cylinder MPI engine making 69hp. This is a CKD unit meaning everything used to build the Kia Picanto is imported and of very high quality. The only locally made thing installed in this vehicle is the battery, tyres and the audio unit. Today we're back with the owner's review of the Kia Picanto, where the owner shares his purchase decision and his experience with this Korean hatchback. The Kia Picanto was launched in the latter half of 2019 in 2 variants, manual and automatic; this particular car is the automatic variant. It comes with a 3-cylinder 1.0-liter euro 6 engine, producing 68 hp and 94 nm of torque. Purchase Decision The owner previously drove a 2015 Corolla and wanted to shift to a hatchback as it is easy to maneuver within the city. He was considering hatchbacks with an automatic transmission and a decent fuel average. He initially considered the Daihatsu Mira but did not opt for it as it was only available in used conditions; hence he went for the Picanto. He Bought the car for 2.1 million rupees in 2021. Salient Features The Picanto comes with basic features, including power steering, power windows, adjustable rear view mirrors, analogue air conditioner, fabric seats, and a halogen DRL. Kia offers two paid options in the Picanto that can be added, including a navigation screen which costs 25,000 rupees, and 14-inch alloy rims, which can be added for 60,000 rupees. Fuel Average The fuel average of the Picanto has raised many questions, and according to the owner, it proves to be very poor. Within city, the owner gets around 8 to 9 km/l at max on normal driving. The owner went to the dealership to raise his concern, but they didn't have any solid reasoning for it. Drive The owner seems satisfied with the drive and feels it is very comfortable on local and highway travel. The engine provides decent power, and the transmission is also smooth compared to the AGS in the Suzuki Cultus. Space Being a compact hatchback, the Picanto compromises on occupant space, specifically in the rear. The rear legroom is very limited and can cause discomfort for passengers, especially on a long journey. However, the front legroom is sufficient, along with plenty of space to store items, including cup holders, door compartments, a decent-sized glove box, and a trunk. Build Quality Setting aside its negatives, one thing that Picanto takes the upper hand in is the build quality. The interior plastic feels robust, and the fit and finish is very impressive compared to its competitors. The fabric seats are very comfortable, and nothing inside the cabin feels cheap and flimsy. AC Performance As per the owner, the Ac is good and provides good cooling and airflow. He has tested it in all weather conditions, and it has not dropped its performance so far. Spare Parts and Maintenance The owner got the oil changed from the dealership, and it cost him Rs. 3800 for the oil. Spare parts are relatively expensive as per the owner, but the availability is there in dealerships due to the well-developed dealership network of Kia in Pakistan. Watch Video

Yesterday, Kia Lucky Motors revised its car prices up to Rs. 1.1 million. Along with its other products, the company increased the cost of Kia Picanto, a hatchback. After the new jump, the new price of the Kia Picanto Manual is Rs. 3.1 million, while Picanto Automatic will now cost Rs. 3.2 million. And it is astonishing, indeed. For a reminder, at the time of its launch in 2019 the rate of Kia Picanto manual and automatic was Rs. 1,899,000 and Rs. 1,999,000, respectively.  But which car used to cost Rs. 3,200,000 in 2019? Yes, you guessed right, Honda Civic. In May 2019, the price of the Honda Civic 1.8L VTi CVT was Rs. 3,199,000, the exact current price of Picanto. It means, in just three years, the prices have almost doubled.  Major Reasons There are multiple reasons behind this double-fold price hike, including COVID-19, economic instability, political uncertainty, and above all, rupee devaluation against the US dollar. The pandemic affected the local auto industry and the global car market alike and we are still seeing its aftershocks. COVID-19 led to record-high freight charges, a shortage of components, especially semiconductor chips, and very expensive raw materials.  Coming to Pakistan, the economy has more or less remained uncertain, another impact of the pandemic. The dollar kept flying high, directly affecting the local car market as companies still import major parts. Although the previous government reduced the taxes and duties on locally assembled cars, but the decision was reversed. Meanwhile, the companies are currently facing problems in issuance LCs of CKD kits from the State Bank, further burdening the industry.  Worriedly, the future doesn't seem too bright as there is still political uncertainty in the country. Despite an IMF deal, the dollar has increased by almost Rs. 10 in just last two days. And its first impact appeared in the shape of the car price increase by Kia Lucky Motors.
